Jiro Dreams of Sushi

I just saw this appetizing documentary at Tribeca’s special screening of the film to benefit the Red Cross in Japan.

My enjoyment of the film was only enhanced by the fact that I had a chance to eat at Sukiyabashi Jiro this past September for what turned out to be the best and most memorable Sushi experience of my life While the film is much more of an advertisement for the two restaurants owned and operated by Jiro and his sons than it is a thorough exploration of their sushi business, I can’t say that I minded.  The beautiful cinematography of the front and back of the house cuts together well with extensive footage of the Tsukiji fish market and interviews with Jiro as well as other chef’s, fish vendors a well known Japanese food critic.

I would recommend this film to any Sushi enthusiast.
